Webtoon Hero - Toondra Show
Continuing from where episode 1 left off, Ah Young is slowly becoming more comfortable with her new life as the care-taker of Bomi. Together with her new room-mates, the four handsome guys, they go out grocery shopping and while she is trying not to draw much attention to herself, she soon realises that that will no longer be an easy task. As soon as the four guys enter the store, all of the ahjummas' (korean for middle-aged women) turn their heads and instantly fall in love. I really pity the poor husband lolz. But I bet he was trying to distract himself from staring lovey-dovely at them too, by looking down at his phone hahaha.
Judging how Ah Young reacted it doesn't seem that it was the first time it has happened. The four guys are girl magnets and she is slowly realizing that too. Slowly she is starting to become more aware of the guys handsome looks and undeniebly, without being able to help it, she feels herself getting attracted by them -cough- especially one guy in particular -cough-.
The guys on the other hand are as goofy and carefree as ever. They don't seem to find living together with her and helping her out, it's a part of their job anyways. Ah Young tries to shake off the flustered feeling as well as hunger when she suddenly stands up and asks the guys if they're hungry and offers to cook them something to eat. Then she runs off to the kitchen and starts preparing Tteokbokki (a spice rice-cake dish). It doesn't take long for the guys to realize that perhaps letting Ah Young cook wasn't the best idea. As she prepares the food, she drops plates, one after the other, scaring the hell out of the clean-freak guy, but assures him through a quick smile that everything is "okay".
10 broken plates later, the dish is finished and served. The guy's aren't as eager to eat it anymore though. They try to put on their best smiles but they make it pretty clear that they question her cooking-skills. Everyone is hesitant to try the new dish besides Young Jae, who puts on a bright smile and tells her that he is "sure it's fine".
They eat in complete silence, and only Young Jae (once again) looks like he is actually enjoying the food. Ah Young is happy that she could cook food for them and heads off to her part-time job. As soon as she leaves, Kang Woo runs into the kitchen and hysterically starts going through the ingrediences used for the dish. He freaks out he finds out that he's slowly getting a allergic reaction and faints. The others are quick to their feet and call for an ambulance.
Meanwhile, Shin meets a delivery man outside the apartment building who is delivering some packages that Ah Young ordered for Bomi. Shin tries to help him carry the packages inside, but the delivery man refuses his help and instead suspects him of being a stalker/intruder.
He questions Shin's identity and it's not until Shin tells him that he lives in Ah Young's apartment that the man calms down and asks him if he is Ah Young's husband, to which Shin replies "yes". <- This ladies and gentleman is surely going to serve as the point of a funny misunderstanding/drama between the guys and Ah Young xD I'm sure of it! The delivery man then gives Shin the packages and goes away.
In the next scene we see Ah Young at her part time job, working as a barista at a café shop. Her co-worker points out a guy she's been eyeing for a while now and tells Ah Young that "he's totally her style". Ah Young looks at the guy and recognises him immediately as a famous webtoon artist. She shyly walks up to him and tells him that she is a big fan. The guy is kind and they start to talk about his webtoons. In the midst of the conversation Ah Young makes a mistake of mixing up two characters which leads to a very awkward silence between the two.
Feeling stupid and embarrassed, Ah Young runs off back to her work, when suddenly Young Jae shows up. She is surprised to see him but he smirks and tells her that he just came to give her her umbrella which she'd forgotten at home.
Ah Young's friend teases her about the incident afterwards and asks her about the identity of the guy who delivered her umbrella. Ah Young is unsure what to answer and just says that "he is a guy she knows". Oh come on! Dx Friendzoning already? He totally has feelings for her!
On her way home from work, Young Jae sms:s her <- See! I told you! He likes her Dx Poor guy, she is totally blind ;_;, and tells her that they're waiting for her to come home.
As soon as she steps inside she realises that Young Jae, Shin and Kang Woo are fast asleep on the floor. She makes sure to be quiet not to wake them up but suddenly when she turns around, she bumps into Do Jin.
Feeels ~ She is surprised but quickly regains her balance. He asks her how she's feeling (?) <- kind of weird but okay xD and tells her to come with him.
They go outdoors and she helps him hang up the laundry. She tells him that it's easier to do it another way but he tells her that it's going to be okay and how "this body is going to protect everything around him" <- naww <3 quite cheesy but cute. I'm sure he meant it "that way". I'm sure of it! It's not just the laundry, or perhaps I'm just being delusional xD Suddenly Ah Young trips and falls, but Do Jin catches her before she reaches the ground.
Romantic music play in the background as he pulls her up and asks her if she is okay. She looks him in the eyes and okay now kiss!!!!!! they stay like that for a moment, just looking at each other.
Ah Young says "why does he suddenly look so handsome? but quickly denies it when she realises that she's said it out loud. Do Jin smiles and compliments her that she looks beautiful without make up. The compliment catches her off guard and she looks surprised at him. He repeats it, giving her the signal that he's sincere okay seriously....KISS!!! Or is it perhaps too early for that? Then hug ;_; Do Jin hug her! <3 Ah Young blushes but doesn't know how else to react or what else to say. She awkwardly smiles and lets go of him and tells him that he should finish the laundry quickly and go rest. With those words she run off inside before he can stop her. He watches her awkwardly run off and gazes her lovingly as he says "now I finally see that" <- which I believe is the continuation of his previous sentence. As in "Now i finally see that you're also beautiful without make-up". >_< feeels. So much feels!
While inside, Ah Young pretends like everything is cool, when suddenly she is met by a sleep-walking Young Jae by the door. She doesn't even manage to turn around before he pulls her into a tight embrace. She is surprised by his sudden hug but it unable to push him away. As if to put a cherry on the cake of the sudden situation, Do Jin comes inside in the right (not) moment and sees the hug.
With that cliffhanger episode 2 ends.
My Thoughts:
Oooooh man ~ them feels. Oh them feels. Okay, but first things first -cough- okay I'm back to reality. I have to say I liked this episode a lot more than the previous one. Perhaps it's because the pacing was quicker or because we now have all the characters kind of settled down as individuals rather than "guy 1, guy 2... etc". Ah Young is an okay character. She doesn't really have much depth to her, I kind of feel like she is just there to serve the purpose of the "love interest" that will trigger a triangle drama between some of the guys (now, most definitely) Do Jin and Young Jae. It's kind of funny actually, now that I think about it. I commented in my previous analysis/thoughts that I was sure there would be something between Do Jin and Ah Young, and I was right, however I had no clue who the other guy would be. Young Jae kind of just snuck up on us out of nowhere, and I have to be honest and say that that felt kind of awkward. He is a total cutie-pie and I understand where the plot is going and that this drama isn't very serious to begin with, but feelings aside, some things are going too fast and it makes the story seem a tiny bit forced and awkward. The romance between Do Jin and Ah Young hm...sure, we got a few moments with them in ep 1, and I understand Ah Young is slowly becoming aware of the situation she is in and she can't help but to feel attracted to some (Do Jin) of them. I mean, they are hot and kind and sweet and yeah. Dream come true basically. But at the same time, I feel like it's a bit too sudden. I would've liked it if we'd gotten a bit more interraction between Ah Young and Do Jin before we got thrown into the begining of what seems to be a pretty clear romance story. As for Young Jae, sadly to say but I feel like he will be the friendzoned guy :/ it pains me to say because I really do like him, but as for now, I'm kindof already getting a feeling that we already know who Ah Young will pick in the end. I could be wrong, it would be nice with a plottwist and the "main couple" doesn't end up together, but we shall see. Let's not forget that Shin also lied about being Ah Young's husband, I wouldn't be surprised if that will lead to some complicated situations later on xD So is this kindof like a harem where all 4 guys will get antangled with the main girl in one way or the other? xD Kang Woo doesn't seem to be romantically interested in her ...for now haha. So yeah, overall for what this story is (a cute, kind of cheesy harem? romance) I find it very enjoyable. The characters are likable, not very deep but it's fine. I'm getting the right feelings from them and that's the most important thing. They deliver the cute moments and the comedy so yeah. I'm pleased with it so far and I'm curious to see where the friendship between Do Jin and Young Jae will go. I sometimes feel like the rivalry between the guys and how it's played out is sometimes more fun to watch than watching the romance scenes between the romantic couples xD. I love me some bromance and if it's angsty, it's even better haha.
